I was using my straightener about 2 times a week. Sometimes not at all. I only use it on 350o setting. Just recently (about 2 weeks ago) I found a huge bald spot at the back of my head and a smaller one in the front. I went to see a doctor, he said that not only can the iron burn your hair off, and cause it to break off, but you can burn your scalp which leads to hair falling out. Also, pulling on your hair when straightening can loosen the hair and that also leads to it falling out. The doctor said that I should be fine, but my hair won't grow back for about a year. So, if you are using a hot iron, be careful!
